One of the wonderful things about being part of The Royal Canadian Legion is discovering how the spirit of Remembrance extends far beyond our own Branch and into communities across Canada.
Recently, one of our Branch 44 members shared photographs from a visit to Chemainus, British Columbia, a Vancouver Island community renowned for its beautiful outdoor murals.
Among the many works of art found throughout the town are murals honouring Veterans, military service and the traditions of Remembrance. These meaningful pieces celebrate the people and stories that form an important part of our country's history.
We were delighted to receive these photographs and wanted to share them with our fellow members. They serve as a reminder that the contributions of Veterans are recognized and remembered in communities large and small, often in beautiful and unexpected ways.
We always love hearing from our members and seeing where their travels take them!
If you come across a Legion, a Veterans' memorial, a historical monument or something connected to Remembrance during your travels, we'd love to hear about it.
Your photographs and stories help us stay connected, share discoveries and celebrate the history and traditions that bring us together as members of The Royal Canadian Legion.
Thank you to our member for sharing this wonderful glimpse of Chemainus with us!
