Branch 44 Celebrates the Legion’s Centennial at the Ballpark

What better way to celebrate 100 years of The Royal Canadian Legion than with a summer night at the ballpark?

On July 28, more than 30 Branch 44 members and dual members headed to Nat Bailey Stadium for an evening of baseball, friendship and plenty of fun as the Vancouver Canadians took on the Spokane Indians.

We were also delighted to have BC/Yukon Command President and Branch 44 dual member Bob Underhill join us for the evening.

And what a night it was! The Canadians gave us plenty to cheer about with an impressive 8–1 victory — and, as an added bonus, it happened to be 75¢ Hot Dog Night. Between the baseball, bargain hot dogs, lots of laughs and a wonderful group of friends, it was certainly a memorable evening.

But perhaps the best part of the night was simply having so many Branch 44 members together outside of our regular meetings and activities.

As The Royal Canadian Legion celebrates its Centennial year, occasions like this remind us that the Legion is about more than meetings and ceremonies. It is also about friendship, camaraderie and creating opportunities for members to spend time together and enjoy each other’s company.
